Born and bred in Banbury, I grew up with a passion for video games, movies and reading. At school I had a real passion for history and storytelling. At the age of 15 I decided I want to be a film director. I studied Media at the North Oxfordshire College and School of Art (now Banbury and Bicester College) and passed with distinction.
One thing I was never, was fit and healthy. Having failed to become a muscular Adonis in my teens, replete as I was with extremely pale skin, a skinny frame, a height disadvantage, and to top it off nicely, asthma, I failed to be picked for any sporting team sports in PE. Being frequently shunned, and occasionally bullied, crushed any desire to participate in team sports. Over the years I did try my hand at tennis (starting with a wooden racquet!), jogging in Spiceball Park, and even Wii Sports, but nothing ever took hold, and I remained a staunch couch potato, my love for movies providing ample opportunity to sit around doing nothing.
It was learning to drive aged 34 that really caused an issue. Within two years, my only source of exercise, walking, was eliminated in favour of driving, and my waist line was noticeably increasing. A chance encounter with Sindy Matthews at work changed my entire world. I signed up to her Kick Start Fat Loss club, and have never looked back. I am now healthier and fitter than I ever was, my waistline and weight returning to what it was in my early twenties.
As a writer, blogger, web designer, graphic design artist, and general creative consultant I help Sindy with many aspects of SMart, including this very website you are browsing now.
